TOWN OF Rocchetta a Volturno

The municipality of Rocchetta a Volturno is located at 540 m above sea level and has a population of 1077 inhabitants with an area of 2402 hectares. The Rocchettani   are spread over three major population centers, Rocchetta a Volturno capital   Municipal, Rocchetta Alta and Castelnuovo.

The town is bordered to the south west with singles, Colli al Volturno in the south, west to Cerro al Volturno in the North by Castel San Vincenzo and east by the Lazio region.


Rocchetta a Volturno was born in the seventh century and is called "Bactaria" (place called Vaccareccia). The country with the event of the Saracens was destroyed and the inhabitants took refuge in Rocchetta dell'Abbadia. Like all communities of the upper valley of the Volturno Rocchetta a Volturno also part of the history of the Abbey of San Vincenzo.

Until a few years ago most of the villagers were engaged in agriculture with the cultivation of corn, wheat, olive oil and other cereals in general .. There are two hydroelectric power plants on land and several companies for the craft of wrought iron, aluminum, chicken farms, cattle farms, restaurants, farms, hotels and businesses in general.

    I forgot to ... OFFICIALLY THE NAME CITY STATE HAS NOT "TO" BUT "A" VOLTURNO ... UNLIKE THE HILLS AND CERRO AS THERE ARE THE SOURCE OF A VOLTURNO ROCCHETTA.
